Every year many people celebrate Valentine's Day with their loved ones. Some people save money to get the most expensive gifts for their loved ones on V-day. But giving each other expensive gifts isn't the most important thing of V-day. Sometimes are roses, a big hug or spending quality time with each other more important than giving expensive gifts.
On Valentine's Day we celebrate Love. But remember to show your loved ones LOVE the whole year through! Love is life, so live it.
Hey Make-up lovers, how have you all been? I hope this year has been treating you well so far. I bet most of you made some New Year's Resolutions. I hope you're not having a hard time keeping them. I've made some New Year's Resolutions too. One of them was to keep my blog updated plus to add some changes to keep it attractive, easy and fun to read. So as you can see I've add some changes to my Blog. I've decided to gather all the loose blog post I had in the past on this blog. I've ordered every single post under a specific subject or "Look". So this little addition will make it easier for you to find a specific post.
My goal is to entertain you and keep you updated about the latest Make-up & Hairstyling trends and to show you some of my work as a Make-up artist & Hair stylist. So I will delight you with lots of inspiring pictures of my work this year.
Time flies so fast when you are happy and enjoying every precious moment of life; wishing it would never end.
My week started tremendous. The alarm went off… I woke up, took a shower….Ready, Steady, Gooo…. "Amsterdam, Here I come”. I had a Perfume-shoot and a Glamour shoot with photographer Charles van Trappen. It was totally a success. I enjoyed it and I can’t wait to see the results.
That same day in the afternoon, I did make up for a model, Dina. It was a very creative Candy Shoot. This shoot was also done with photographer Charles van Trappen. Stay tuned for the pictures; they are sexy, crazy, sweet and nice.
The next day I went to make-up training (organized by my work), where you learn about the new make-up trends for Spring 2011! It was very informative and as usual a great moment in my life. I constantly need to upgrade my make-up skills. Every season there is a new make-up trend, so it’s imperative that I am kept up to date to give you the latest fashion make-up styles.
I also did the make-up for the JPB featuring TO video ”Single en Alleen.” It was quite a long day, but a successful one nonetheless. At the end I went home, got some sleep and recharged for the next day.

So, the next day I woke up fit and exited again! I was invited by Photographer Paul to help him with a “Photography” workshop. It was a workshop for photographers at a beginners level. Together we worked on it; me as the make-up artist/hairstylist of course. I discussed the importance of hiring a make-up artist for a shoot to all of the men that were there. Make-up for a photo shoot is completely different then make-up one wears every day. Giving a workshop was a big challenge for me!

Tick- tock- tick… the “week” is over!I I was very busy, but I’m so happy I made the best of it. It was a challenging yet productive week. Now can I finally say “It’s the weekend”. Lets have some fun..this is what weekends are for! Have a wonderful one!!
Burlesque as a sensation was brought to America from Britain in the 1800s. Forget playboy bunnies. Burlesque glamour is all about being a lady, although a lady with a naughty side! Burlesque is all about elegance and what you leave on is easily as important as what you take off. This is thenew glamour.
The word and concept of Burlesque came through though: Betty Page, Gypsy Rose Lee and Dita von Teese.
It took a while compared with USA and UK, but finally in 2007 the (new) Burlesque wave hit Amsterdam! Here has always been striptease, pin-up girls, showgirls in Amsterdam, ... well before we called it Burlesque.

The first ever Top Model of Colour Holland finale took place on 27th March 2010 at the World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam Holland. They started out with about 500 models. 20 of those models went to this big final. 20 models competed to be TMC Holland and it was won by Adut Mawien, Kimberly (second) and Elise (third).

It was a big challenge for me.. I enjoyed it very much and I also got to meet lots of people. It was a big success!
If you look at the catwalk you will see that matt skin is extremely popular. Make-up artists pay attention to this matt face that can look like a background for the eyes and cheeks. It doesn't matter if your skin is pale or tinted - the most important thing is to keep it clear, smooth and matt.
The eyes:
Eyes are the key to this trend. Make-up artists tend to go for two extremes looks for the eyes: smoky-smoky and almost naked ones. The emphasis lay more on the eye shadowing then on the long eyelashes.
Eyeliners are now firmly back on the agenda!
There are two types to choose from, liquid or pencil. Liquid eyeliner is more difficult to use, but the results can be much better with practice and patience. One technique to achieve the look is to Use a darker color on the lids and then smudge a slightly lighter shade under the eyes. I used a black liquid-liner to draw a thick line above the upper lashes and a thinner (gold) line under the lower lashes.
Purple Smoky eyes:
Sensual and majestic purple was everywhere at the autumn/winter 2009-10 catwalk shows. F.E : at Dior, it was found on silk jumpsuits, dresses and coats.

Tenderness and innocence of lips color palette range from slightly pink, purple, fuchsia to extremely pale, almost skin-fitting-hue.
Purple lips can look every bit as chic as classic. I choose a lipstick with a matt finish instead of anything overly glossy or shimmering, for a look that’s classy and timeless!
Steer clear of lip glosses. Your lips should be decorated with matt lipstick. This will allow laying more stress on the eyes.
Make-up is a passion, it’s a fantasy. It’s visualizing an idea or fantasy by means of applying make-up. First I made a mood board to be able to visualize my fantasy/idea.
Like a collage a mood board consists of several pictures and images. My mood board is where I get my ideas from so it´s a real source of inspiration.
The thought behind a mood board is that visual communication is much more effective than verbal communication. At first glance you will be able to see what inspired me. There is an old saying which applies to this: ‘A picture tells a thousand words.
Colour is life
“Colour” is my inspiration. Colour is life and life is colourful. In life you always have to make choices, it’s one or the other. That’s why I made a choice.
I chose my favourite colours, which are the peacock colours. I used these colours to create a make-up idea for the model.
It was a real challenge for me to use these peacock colours in the make-up of the model. It was an idea/fantasy which I made real. As it is a fantasy make-up , I used my creativity and chose to make it my own creative peacock.
